From childhood, he had lived with Mr. & Mrs. Hewitt, 17 Ashley Rd, Altrincham. Member of the Altrincham New St. Weslyan Mens' Bible Class and Church Lads Brigade. Messrs. Royce Ltd, Engineers, Manchester were the Royce side of Rolls Royce Ltd. Enlisted in the Cheshire Yeomanry No.1377, in August 1914 and later transferred to the Dragoon Guards. The local newspaper states that he was serving with the Dragoon Guards. The 10/06/1921 edition of the Altrincham Guardian reported the unveiling of the oak framed incised bronze war memorial tablet in the porch of the Altrincham Weslyan Church. |
