Born in 1897, the son of Ernest & Minnie Agnes Bevan (nee Vernon).

1901 Census -  32 Hyde Grove, Sale.   Son - aged: 3 - born: Ardwick,
Manchester.    Head of household - Ernest Bevan - Married - aged: 26 - occ:
Machinist Drillier - born: Hulme, Manchester.    Also - Minnie Agnes Bevan
- Wife - aged: 26 - born: Ardwick, Manchester.  Plus 1 elder sibling, his
paternal grandfather and a niece.

1911 Census - 9 Dale Street, Altrincham.   Son - aged: 14 - Scholar - born:
Mostyn, North Wales.   Head of household - Ernest Bevan - Married - aged:
36 - occ: Machinist Drillier at Lynotype Printing Machine Manufacturers -
born: Ardwick, Manchester.    Also - Minnie Agnes Bevan - Wife - aged: 36 -
born: Hulme, Manchester.  Plus 4 younger siblings.

Member of the 1st Broadheath (St. Albans) Boy Scouts and excelled at Morse
code and semaphore signaling.

Employed as an Apprentice at the Linotype Factory, Broadheath.

Enlisted in August 1914 and had been at the front for 15 months.

MIC lists only that he was awarded the BWM and the VM.  It also states that
he had another number after the above one. - T (1511).

Mentioned in dispatches for special act of gallantry on 09/05/1917.

Died in hospital at the front.    Death reported in the 02/04/1918 edition
of the Altrincham Guardian.

Listed on the Royal Engineers Memorial.

Many of those in the Roye New British Cem are unidentified and a total of
115 Commonwealth soldiers (including  Sapper Bevan) were originally buried
in the Marchelepot British Cemetery, but were later reinterred in the Roye
New British Cem, where they are now commemorated.

Special Memorial to 58 British Empire soldiers, who fell in 1918 and were
buried at the Marchelepot British Cemetery and in Nesle German Cemetery,
but whose graves were destoyed in later battles.
