H.M.S. Jackdaw was acrually Crail Airfield, built on the very easternmost point of Fife, Fife Ness, exposed to the North Sea on three sides. Its main role was Torpedo Bomber training. Basil was probably in 780 Sqn that was based there at the time of his death. |
