Born during the March quarter 1892 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: -
8c/679, the second son of James & Clara Bennett (nee Burgess).

1901 Census - 29 Tamworth Street, Newton In Makerfield, Lancashire.   Son -
aged: 9 - born: Eccles.  Head of household - James Bennett - Married -
aged: 32 - occ: Dairyman - born: Eccles.  Also - Clara Bennett - Wife -
aged: 32 - born: Flixton.  Plus 3 siblings including Robert who was also
killed during WW1.

1911 Census - Next to Taylor's Bakery, 62 Woodsend Road, Flixton.  Son -
aged: 19 - occ: Brickmaker's Carter - born: Davyhulme.  Head of household -
James Bennett - Married - aged: 42 - occ: Brickmaker's Labourer - born:
Eccles.    Also - Clara Bennett - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Flixton.   Plus 3
siblings including Thomas who was also killed during WW1.  Plus 7 siblings
including Robert who was also killed during WW1. James & Clara had 13
children - 4 of those had died by 1911.

I have no record as to when Thomas enlisted, but the 2nd Bn Border Regiment
was formed at Pembroke Dock in August 1914.  On the 5th September 1914 it 
moved to Lyndhurst and came under orders of 20th Brigade in 7th Division.  
They landed at Zeebrugge on the 6th October 1914.

They saw action in The First Battle of Ypres at the end of 1914 and in 1915
were in action at: The Battle of Neuve Chapelle, The Battle of Aubers, The
Battle of Festubert, The second action of Givenchy, and The Battle of
Loos.
