Enlisted in the Plymouth Battalion MEF on the 6th February 1915.   Received
a bomb wound on his scalp on the 26th May 1915.   Joined 2nd Royal Marine
Battalion on the 16th August 1915.   Received a bomb wound over his left
eye on the 29th September 1915.   Rejoined 2nd Royal Marine Battalion on
the 8th October 1915.   Transferred to 1st Royal Marine Battalion on the
28th April 1918.   Received a GSW to his left foot on the 10th Novermber
1918 and was invalided back to the UK on the 15th November 1918.

Awarded the Victory Medal, the BWM and the 1915 Star.
