Born at 17  Burlington Road, Withington on the 22nd February 1896, the
birth being registered during the June quarter 1896 in the Chorlton R.D. -
ref: 8c/711, the son of Frank & Florence Craston (nee Hampson).   His
father was employed as a Commercial Traveller.

1901 Census - 4 Royal Crescent, Bridlington, Yorkshire.    Son - aged: 5 -
born: Withington.   Head of household - Frank Craston - Married - aged: 31
- occ: Commercial Traveller (Varnish & Colours) - born: Manchester.   Also
- Florence Craston - Wife - aged: 28 - born: Manchester.  Plus 1 elder
sibling.   Occupying 2 rooms at this address.

1911 Census - 22 Heaton Road, Withington.    Son - aged: 15 -: Scholar -
born: Manchester.   Head of household - Frank Craston - Married - aged: 41
- occ: Commercial Traveller (Farming Trade) - born: Manchester.   Also -
Florence Craston - Wife - aged: 38 - born: Manchester.  Plus 2 siblings and
1 domestic servant.

Attended Manchester Grammar School.   Employed as an Articles pupil to a
Surveyor.

WO374/16379 - He attested at Manchester on the 16th September 1914 and
ranked as a Private.  He was embodied as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 6th
Battalion, Manchester Rgt - No. 2867 on the 4th June 1915.   His address
was given as 22 Heaton Road, Withingtton, Manchester.    On enlistment he
was aged: 19 years 2 months, was 5 feet 4 1/2 inches in height, his chest
measurements were 33/35 inches.

Originally buried in the Ravine des Juneaux Military Cemetery, by Swindon
Camp, Greece.  There was a huge list of his personal effects  - far too
long to detail here.

Post War his parents resided at Holly Lodge, Clarenden Road, Sale.
