Born on the 2nd April 1921, the birth being registered during the June
quarter 1921 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/308, the son of George William &
Margaret Wright Leonard (nee Burgess).  They later resided at 131 Downs
Drive, West Timperley.

1921 Census - 4 Princes Road, Altrincham.   Son - aged: 2 months - born:
Altrincham.    Head of houdsehold - George William Leonard - Married -
aged: 40 - occ: Engineer Fitter at Linotype -born: Bacup, Lancashire.   
Also - Margaret Wright Leonard - Wife - aged: 41 - born: Dumfriesshire,
Scotland.  Plus 4 elder siblings.

Attended Bradbury Central School and Altrincham Grammar School.  Employed
as a Draughtsman at the Linotype Works.

His mother - Margaret Wright Leonard died in 1938, aged: 58.

Killed at Epe, Holland on the 16th June 1944 (Unitarian Chapel Mem).

Flying with 166 Sqn, he took off from RAF Kirmington at 22.38 hrs in a
Lancaster Mk III No. LM581 AS-X, for a bombing raid on Gelsenkirchen.   The
a/c ws engaged by a night fighter and shot down near Tongeren, Gelderland,
4 Km west of Epe, where the entire crew are buried.
