Note from Bob Bonner. (F.B. Museum) MEN 11th Sep 1943,
OBITUARY for Roger William Broadfield, died on 9th September 1943 at home
address, 26 Windsor Drive, Timperley, Husband of Margery. Service at
Manchester Crem 13th September. At least it clears the date up, you gave
me 9th Sept, the Firefighters Memorial Trust thought it was 3rd. Incident
was supposed to be at "Fire Brigade Headquarters," but I don't know where
that is supposed to be. Died from service injures according to both
sources, I had nothing at all. The short date of funeral suggests there
was no inquest, even in those days of doing them quickly, so if it was to
do with service injuries it must have been clear cut.
