Born during the June quarter 1913 in the Preston R.D. - ref:: 8e/1116, the
son of Robert Arthur & Leah Rooking (nee Hicks).

In 1911, his father was listed as a 24 year old plumber.

1939 National Registration.   79 Henshaw Street, Stretford.   George
Rooking - Single - born: 31st March 1913 - occ: Tool Fitter Aircraft.  
Robert Rooking - Married - born: 12th April 1887 - occ: Domestic & General
Plumber.   Leah Rooking - Married - born: 4th February 1888 - occ: Unpaid
Domestic Dutie.  Ruth C. Horner (Rooking) - Single - born: 24th November
1917 - occ: Photographic Retoucher Finisher.

CWD Report No. 40.   Died at 79 Henshaw Street, Stretford, from where his
body was recovered at 12.00 noon on the 24th December 1940 and taken to the
City Road Mortuary.    His body was identified by his brother-in-law -
Arnold L.Horner, 29 Chatburn Road, Chorlton cum Hardy, Manchester and
released for burial to the Manchester & Salford Co-op Funeral Department,
Downing Street, Manchester.    Described as being 5 feet 10 inches in
height, of heavy build, brown eyes and dark brown hair.    Arnold Horner
was married to George's sister - Ruth Rooking.  This report is at odds with
him being killed at the Victoria Park School???

Death registered in Stretford Borough.  Cremated on 28/12/1940.

Commemorated on Sevenways Church Memorial, Stretford.
