Born on the 21st May 1905, the birth being registered during the June
quarter 1905 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/699, the son of Thomas
& Diana Alice Hill (nee Aston).

1911 Census - 145 Second Avenue, Trafford Park, Manchester.     Son - aged:
6 - Scholar - born: Trafford Park.     Head of household - Thomas Hill -
Married - aged: 36 - occ: Tramway Inspector - born: Holmes Chapel.    Also
- Diana Alice Hill - Wife - aged: 37 - born: Worcester.    Plus 6
siblings.

Married - Born: 30th August 1872 - occ: Incapacitated.   Thomas Hill -
Single - Born: 21st May 1905 - occ: Printers Clerk (Costing).   Charles
Dakin - Single - Born: 9th December 1901 - occ: Locomotive Fireman.    Also
recorded as a separate family are the Ricketts family who were also killed
in this incident, together with Charles Dakin.

Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road, Old Trafford.   This was
the worst single incident in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater
Manchester during WW2.   In total, thirty three persons were killed.

One of 19 Unidentified Bodies buried in the Communal Grave at Stretford
Cemetery.   His parents - Thomas & Alice Diana Hill were also killed in
this incident, as was his elder married sister - Nellie Smith and her
husband - William Harcourt Smith.

CWGC - of 32 Stanley Road, Old Trafford. Son of Thomas and Diana Hill. Died
at 32 Stanley Road.
