Born during the June quarter 1896 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/876, the
son of John & Amy Morello (nee Davies).   

1901 Census - 6 April Street, Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester.  Son (listed
as John Morello) - aged: 4 - born: Manchester.  Head of household - John
Morello - Married - aged: 33 - occ: Foreign Correspondent - born:
Gibraltar.  Also - Amy Morello - Wife - aged: 26 - born: Macclesfield,
Cheshire. Plus 2 sisters.

1911 Census - 53 Scarsdale Road, Victoria Park, Manchester.  Son (listed as
Ivan Morello) - aged: 15 - Scholar - born: Manchester.   Head of household
-  Amy Morello - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Cheshire.  Plus 4 siblings and
Amy's mother who was visiting. Ivan's father was not at home that night.

Employed by J.F. & H. Roberts Ltd, Portland St, Manchester.

MIC - states that he served with the 20th Bn Royal Fusiliers. Posted to
France on the 15th November 1915.

Enlisted in the Public Schools Bn Royal Fusiliers in November 1914 and was
drafted to the front in November 1915.  The Bn played a prominent part in
the attack on High Wood on the Somme in July 1916.  He was one of only a
few that were left from the Bn to answer the roll call.

He was wounded by shrapnel soon after and following his recovery, he was
transferred to another Bn.  He was later killed by a shell burst.

His death was reported in the 30/04/1918 edition of the Altrincham
Guardian.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Hale Cemetery, which also
states that he was in the 20th Bn.

The 20th Bn Royal Fusiliers was known as the Public Schools Battalion.  The
only reference to Ivan serving with the 13th Bn is from the CWGC.  Listed
as being in the 20th Bn on the Hale United Reform Church Memorial.

Post War his parents resided at "Bollin Brae", Park Road, Hale.

His father, John died 25/01/1933 aged 65 years and his mother, Amy died
13/11/1949 aged 75 years.
