Born during the March quarter 1890 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref:8a/160, the
son of Mary Agnes Webb.

1891 Census - Hall Bank, Mobberley.  Grandson - aged: 1 - born: Mobberley. 
 Head of household - George Webb - Married - aged: 48 - occ: Agricultural
Labourer - born: Alderley, Cheshire.   Also - Elizabeth Webb -  Wife -
aged: 51 - born: Manchester.   Plus Frances Webb - Grand-daughter - aged:
4.   According to his Army Service Record, Frances was his Half-Sister.

1901 Census - Broad Oak Lane, Mobberley.   Grandson - aged: 11 - born:
Mobberley.   Head of household - George Webb - Married - aged: 57 - occ:
Agricultural Labourer - born: Alderley, Cheshire.   Also - Elizabeth Webb -
 Wife - aged: 63 - born: Manchester.

WO 363 - He attested into the Cheshire Rgt at Knutsford on the 17th March
1908 - No. 8021.   He was mobilized on the 12th June 1908.   He was aged:
18 years, 2 months and employed as a Farm Labourer. His address was simply
given as Mobberley.  He lists his grandparents as his parents.  He was 5
feet 3 1/2 inches in height and weighed 111 1/2 lb.  His chest measurements
were 19 inches expanding to 23 1/2 inches.   He had grey eyes and Light
Brown hair.  He was disciplined for overstaying his leave from tattoo on
the 29th December until the tattoo on the 30th December 1914 (24 hours). 
For this misdemeanor he had to forfeit 10 days pay.

Posted to India on the 1st February 1910.  On voyage home from India from
the 19th November 1914 to the 23rd December 1914.   Served in the U.K. from
the 24th December 1914 until the 15th January 1915.  Posted to Mesopotamia
(Iraq) on the 5th November 1915.   Appointed Lance Corporal on the 21st
February 1916.   The Army Form W.50580 (Statement of Dependent Relatives),
dated the 118th August 1919, lists his mother as Agnes Webb "last kn own
address" was 16 Terrick Road, Alexandra Park, Wood Green, London.  The form
was completed by his half-sister - Mrs. Frances Harrop, 5 Utley View Road,
Hale Road, Hale.  His grand-parents were now deceased.  By 1921 the address
for his mother was Mrs. M.A. Ward, Wellesby, 26 Brownlow Road, New
Southgate, London.  His mother had married Alfred C. Ward during the March
quarter 1916 in the Shoreditch R.D. - ref: 1c/104.
