son of Charles & Alice Naismith (nee Lings).

1901 Census - 7 Seymour Road, Crumpsall, Manchester.   Son - aged: 9 -
born: Manchester.   Head of household - Charles Naismith - Married - aged:
43 - occ: Life Assurance Manager - born: Ireland.   Also - Alice Naismith -
Wife - aged: 46 - born: Manchester.   Plus 4 siblings, an aunt and 1
domestic servant.

He was in Strassburg when war was declared, preparing for his final exams,
due in November 1914, for an Honours Degree in Modern Languages at London
University.

He was the Assistant Master at Wadham House School, Hale and later the
Assistant Master at the Cragg, Windermere.   He was a good all round
athlete.

MIC - states that he was posted to Mesopotamia on 28th September 1916 and
awarded the BWM & the VM.

He was attached to the 07th Bn.  North Staffordshire Rgt.

Also commemorated on a joint (together with W.W. Smith) private memorial
plaque in St. Mary's, Bowdon - Inscribed: "Beati in Virtue".

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states
that he was from Wadham School, Hale.
