Born during the December quarter 1895 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/673, the son of Hugh William & Jane Astelle Bloomer (nee Walmesley).   
Spelt with an 'e' in CWGC's records and on SDGW, but without on his MIC.

1901 Census - 171 Urmston Lane, Stretford.  Son - aged: 5 - born:
Stretford.   Head of household - Hugh William Bloomer - Married - aged: 42
- occ: Manager Timber Trade - born: Lye, Worcestershire.   Also - Jane A.
Bloomer - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Church, Lancashire.   Plus 2 elder
brothers and 1 domestic servant.

1911 Census - 169 Urmston Lane, Stretford.   Son - aged: 15 - Scholar -
born: Manchester.     Head of household - Hugh William Bloomer - Married -
aged: 52 - occ: Timber Merchant Dealer - born: Lye, Worcestershire.   Also
- Jane Astelle Bloomer - Wife - aged: 46 - born: Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire.
  Plus 2 elder brothers and 1 domestic servant.

MIC - France 14/11/1915.   Awarded the 1915 Star, the BWM & VM.

In 1915 the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment were in action at he
Battles of Neuve Chapelle, Aubers Ridge, Bois Grenier.   In 1916, they took
part in the Battle of The Somme.    In 1917 they fought in The German
retreat to the Hindenburg Line and then moved up to Flanders, in the
Battles of Pilkem and Langemarck.   On the 4th of February 1918 they
transferred to 62nd Brigade, 21st Division.   They were in the Battles of
the Lys,  the Aisne, the Somme and the Battles of the Hindenburg Line..
