Born during the September quarter 1862 in the Altrincham R.D - ref: 8a/172,
the son of Charles & Hannah Holt (nee Newton).

Married Isabella Mary Sutherland during the March quarter 1891 in the 
Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/296.

1871 Census - Laurel Farm, Carrington Road, Carrington, Cheshire (three
doors away from St. George's Parsonage).    Son - aged: 8 - Scholar - born:
Carrington.     Head of household - Hannah Holt (his father was away on
census night) - Married - aged: 35 - born: Carrington.   Plus 2 siblings.

1881 Census - No Trace as he was serving in South Africa.   His parents -
Charles & Hannah are residing at Ivy House, Carrington (two doors away from
the Windmill P.H.).  Charles was a 68 year old Corn Merchant and Hannah was
aged: 46.   Their other son - Charles A. Holt - aged: 21, was then living
with them.

1891 Census - No Trace - His mother, Hannah is now a widow, aged: 55 and
has moved to Manchester Road, Altrincham (five doors away from the
Navigation P.H.) - Living on her own means with her daughter Edith Mary -
aged: 25.

1901 Census - His mother has now moved to the farm of her brother in law -
Thomas Walkden - New Hall Farm, Millington, Rostherne, Cheshire.   Aged:
66, she is still living on her own means.

1911 Census - His mother, now aged: 77, has now moved in with her daughter
and son-in-law at Ash Cottage, Warrington Road, Penketh, Lancashire.

Died of Enteric Fever (Typhoid) in South Africa.

Commemorated on the private gravestone in St. George's Church Yard,
Carrington which states that he was 35 years old at the time of his death,
but the BMD records are quite clear with Newton as the middle name, which
makes him aged: 38 at the time of his death.

His father Charles died 26/03/1887 aged 74 years and his mother Hannah,
died 02/11/1913 aged 80 years.
