Born during the September quarter 1892 in the Warrington R.D. - ref:
8c/263, the son of Edward & Margaret Brett (nee Jones).

1901 Census - Old Hall Cottage, 1 Rainhill, Prescot, Lancashire.   Son -
aged: 9 - born: Warrington.   Head of household - Edward Brett - Married -
aged: 44 - occ: Teamsman on Farm - born: Cheshire.   Also Margaret Brett -
Wife - aged: 40 - born: Cheshire.   Plus 2 elder siblings.

1911 Census - Bent Corner, Warburton.   Son - aged: 18 - occ: House Joiner
- born: Warrington.    Head of household - Edward Brett - Married - aged:
52 - occ: Teamsman on Farm - born: Stanthorne, Cheshire.   Also Margaret
Brett - Wife - aged: 50 - born: Cheshire.   Plus 3 siblings and 1 niece.

His mother - Margaret Brett died in 1912, aged: 52.

Employed as a Joiner by Mr. Clarke of Dunham Massey.

AIR 79/434 - Attested at Altrincham into the Territorial Army - 5th
Battalion, Cheshire Regiment - No.46685 and embodied on the 6th November
1914.   Residing at  Brook House, Warburton.    He was aged: 21 years 3
months and was 5 feet 5 inches in height.  He had an expanded chest
measurement of 33 inches with a 2 inch range of expansion.   

Transferrred into the Royal Flying Corps on the 2nd August 1916 and given a
new number - 2577.  Qualified as an Aerial Gunner on the 8th May 1917.   
Promoted Corporal on the 14th June 1917, "In recognition of his gallantry
and good service in the air".

From May 1917, 11 Sqn were flying Bristol F2b Fighter aircraft.  On the 1st
June, the Squadron moved to La Bellevue, situated north of the Somme
battlefields, between Doullens and Arras.

Out on an Offensive Patrol in a Bristol F2b aircraft, he was shot down in
combat.

Death reported in the 27/07/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Werburgh's
Churchyard.

Post War his father resided at Mill Bank, Partington.  His father died
18/03/1935, aged 79 years and his mother, Margaret died 14/04/1912 , aged
52 years.   His sister was Nellie Hogg, Arnesfield, Rose Hill, Bowdon.

Not mentioned in either "The Sky their Battlefield" or "R.F.C.
Communiqués".
