His mother - Ellen, died in 1909 - aged: 53.

Attended St. George's C. of E. School.

He was a Sergeant in the St. George's Company of the Church Lads Brigade.

Enlisted on the 10th May 1916 and drafted to the front in December 1916.

Employed by the Stamford Estates under Mr. W.D. Bullock.

Formerly 168082 - Royal Engineers.

A shell burst at the entrance to his dugout - he was buried the same
afternoon.

Death reported in the 02/10/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian which
states that his father lived at 22 Oakfield Rd, Altrincham.   Commemorated
on the private family gravestone in St. Werburgh's Churchyard.

His father, Joseph died 08/01/1935, aged 81 years and his mother, Ellen
died 31/10/1909, aged 53 years.

Commemorated on St. George's Memorial, Altrincham.   Listed in the Guardian
Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states that he lived at 22
Oakfield Road, Altrincham.   Post War his father resided at the White Croft
Villas, Warburton Lane, Partington.

M.I. - "He died as nobly as he lived a brave soldier and a good son".
