Born during the September quarter 1889 in the Manchester R.D. - ref:
8d/244, the son of James & Margaret Morgan (nee Mawdsley).

1891 Census - 4 White Lion Street, Manchester.    Son - aged: 1 - born:
Manchester.   Head of household - James Morgan - Married - aged: 37 - occ:
Upholsterer - born: Manchester.   Also - Margaret Morgan - Wife - aged: 38
- born: Manchester.   Plus 3 brothers.

His father - James Morgan died in late 1900, aged: 46.

1901 Census - No Trace.

Manchester Courier & Lancashire General Advertiser - edition dated the 17th
July 1903.   Manchester City Education results, under the sub-heading
"Lancastrian Exhibitions to the value of £5 for one year, tenable at the
higher grade schools" - James R. Morgan, Central & Hewitt Street.

1911 Census - 6 Taylor Street, Eccles New Road,  Salford.   Son - aged: 21
- occ: Warehouseman - born: Manchester.   Head of household - Margaret
Morgan - Widow - aged: 59 - born: Manchester.

Married - Dora Adelaide Shelley during the December quarter 1912 in the
Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/254.   Dora was a 19 year old Telephone Operator
residing at 25 King's Avenue, Old Trafford.

WO363 - Attested on the 7th June 1916.  Mobilised on the 3rd August 1916
into the 28th Bn, London Regiment at the Central London Recruiting Depot,
Whitehall,  London S.W. and sent to Euston Road.   Recorded as a Salesman
residing at 3 Lacey Avenue, Lacey Green, Wilmslow, aged: 26 years 180 days.
  He was 5 feet  6 inches in height, weighed 135 lb, his chest measurements
being 32 1/2 inches to 36 1/2 inches.

His wife, who he married on the 6th November 1912, was residing at 3 Stacey
Avenue, Wilmslow.  They had three children - Dorothy, Margaret (b 23/03/13)
- James (b. 11/10/1914) - Frederick (. 01/11/1916).   The first two being
born at Salford, the last at Wilmslow.   Posted to France on the 4th March
1918.

Soon after James' death, Dora was residing at 187 Horton Road, Rusholme,
Manchester.   By 1923, she was residing at 205 Dickenson Road, Rusholme,
Manchester.   On the 7th February, Dora wrote to James' regiment stating
that Private Herbert No. 7677011 had informed her that he was with James
when he was fatally shot (sniper ???) at 22.00 hrs and could that be taken
that he was dead?   Until then he was described as being missing.

Pension Records - Widow - Mrs. Dora Adelaide Morgan, 3 Stacey Avenue,
Wilmslow, Cheshire.    Awarded a £5 grant on the 26th June 1919 and a
weekly pension of 29/7d w.e.f. the 25th November 1918.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery - D 2307.
