Born at Hulme on the 30th August 1877, the son of James & Ellen Dixon (nee
Rothwell).    

1881 Census - 48 Crown Street, Hulme, Manchester.    Son - aged: 4 - born:
Lancashire.   Head of household - James Dixon - Married - aged: 28 - occ:
Carter - born: Patricroft, Salford.   Also - Ellen Dixon - Wife - aged: 25
- born: Lancashire.   Plus 1 younger brother and a boarder.

1891 Census - No Trace.

1901 Census - No Trace.

Married Louisa Ellen Peasnall on the 21st April 1906, the marriage being
registered during the June quarter 1906 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref:
8c/1631.

1911 Census - 13 Brighton Grove, Ashton upon Mersey.   Head of household -
Married - aged: 32 - occ: Labourer - born: Manchester.   Also - Louisa
Ellen Dixon - Wife - aged: 28 - born: Sale.   Plus Hilda Mary Dixon -
Daughter - aged: 4 -  born: Sale.

WO363 - Enlisted on the 30th August 1916.   He was discharged from the
Liverpool Rgt Labour Corps at Preston on the 9th May 1917 - No. 69848.  He
was aged: 39 years, 253 days, residing at 13 Brighton Grove, Ashton upon
Mersey and employed as a Labourer.   He was 5 feet, 5 1/2 inches in height,
his complexion - Pale, eyes - Blue and Fair hair.   He was declared "No
longer physically fit for War service, suffering from Chronic Bronchitis". 
 His Conduct was "Good during his short period of service" and given an
Army pension of £10 per week.

Pension Records - Widow: Louisa Ellen Dixon, 13 Brighton Grove, Ashton upon
Mersey, later at 37 Barwell Road, Ashton upon Mersey.   Awarded a Grant of
£6 paid on the 16th November 1918.   James & Louisa had a daughter - Hilda
Mary Dixon, born on the 28th November 1906.   Awarded a weekly pension of
20/5d w.e.f. the 18th December 1918.   Ths lists his date of birth as the
24th September 1882 ???

He spent only 15 days in France, from the 3rd March to the 20th March
1917.

Died during the September quarter 1910 in the Stockport R.D. - ref: 8a/17 -
aged: 40.    Buried on the 5th August 1918 GMC Hyde, Tameside area.

His last address was - "Oakville", Rydal Road, Morecambe, Lancashire.
