The 19/04/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian reports that he has
received gunshot wounds and that he is in hospital abroad.

CWGC - Husband of Ida Merrall of 30 Parson Street, Keighley, Yorkshire.

Only received the BWM and the VM, indicating that he probably didn't go to
France until 1916.

Pension Records - Widow - Ida Merrall, 32 Cromwell Road, Stretford.  
Awarded a £5 grant on the 11th April 1918 and a weekly pension of 13/9d
w.e.f. the 7th October 1918.  This was then upgraded to 33/4d w.e.f the 7th
October 1918.
