Born during the September quarter 1891 in the Bury R.D. - ref: 8c/599, the
son of Robert & Mary Hardy (nee Roberts).

At the time of the 1891 census, Ernest's parents were residing at 84
Georgiana Street, Bury, which was probably where Ernest was born a few
months later.   His father was aged: 36 and employed as a Coach Builder,
born at Bury.   His mother was aged: 31 and born at Penzance, Cornwall. 
They had a 5 year old daughter - Dorothy, born at Bury.

1901 Census - 84 Georgiana Street, Bury.  Grandson - aged: 9 - born: Bury. 
 Head of household - Robert Hardy Snr. - Married - aged: 81 - occ: Coach
Builder - born: Scotland.   Also Christian Hardy - Wife - aged: 76 - born:
Scotland.   Ernest's father - Robert Hardy Jnr was also recorded  at this
address (see below) - Married - aged: 47 - occ: Coach Builder - born: Bury.
   An elder sister (Francis not Dorothy) and a younger brother were also
listed.

It seems that Ernest's father (Robert Hardy Jnr) was listed twice as he is
also listed at 86 Georgiana Street, Bury - Married - aged: 49 (not 47 as
above) - occ: Coach Builder - born: Bury.   Also - Mary Hardy - Wife -
aged: 44 - born: Penzance   Plus another elder sister - Jessie - aged: 16 -
born: Bury.

1911 Census - 24 Waverley Road, Sale.  Boarder with Family Relatives -
aged: 19 - occ: Printer & Paper Hanger - born: Bury, Lancashire.  Head of
household - John Goodier - Married - aged: 34 - occ: Clerk - born:
Manchester.   Also Jessie Goodier - Wife - aged: 25 - born: Bury.    Plus
the Goodier's baby son.

Ernest's mother was at that time residing at 35 Rosamond Street East,
Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester.    Boarder - Married - aged: 48 - occ:
Dress Maker - born: Penzance, Cornwall.   His father was an Inmate at 1
Broadoak Lane, Jericho, Bury - the Bury Union Workhouse.   Married - aged:
60 - occ: Coach Builder (Journeyman) - born: Bury.    He eventually died in
1917.

Part of 25 Division, 75 Brigade, Ernest died during an attack on Ovillers
during the Battle of the Somme 1916.
