Born in 1892, the son of George & Harriett Louisa Jones (nee Love).

1901 Census - No Trace.

Attended St. Mary's School, A. on M.    Was a member of St. Mary's Church
Choir.    As a lad he sang in the chorus of the Minnehaha Minstrels, a
local choir that gave choral concerts raising considerable amounts of money
for charitable organisations..

1911 Census - "Rose Hill, Carrington Lane, Ashton upon Mersey.   Son -
aged: 18 - occ: Clerk - born: Manchester.    Head of household - George
Jones - Married - aged: 51 - occ: Lithographic Printer - born: Shrewsbury,
Shropshire.    Also - Harriett Louisa Jones - Wife - aged: 48 - born:
Chatham, Kent.    Plus 3 siblings and 1 boarder.

Enlisted at the end of 1914 and posted to France on the 9th November 1915. 
 He had been at the front for 13 months and had already been wounded once. 
  He had only been back at the front 7 weeks when, together with 8 other
men, he was killed instantly by a shell.

Manchester Evening News 27/12/1916 reported that he had been promoted to
sergeant the day before his death.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in St. Martin's Ref: 4.40.

His father George died 23/02/1936 aged 76 and his mother Harriett died
09/04/1937 aged 74.
