Born at Sale during the December quarter 1893 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref:
8a/167, the son of Thomas & Maria King.

1901 Census - 1901 Census - 6 Chapel Road, Sale.   Son - aged: 8 - born:
Sale.   Head of household - Thomas King - Married - aged: 53 - occ: Lodging
House Keeper - born: Ireland.   Also Maria King - Wife - aged: 45 - born:
Ireland.   Plus 8 siblings (including Sarah King who died on the RMS
Lusitania on the 7th May 1915).   They also had living with them - 2
boarders and 2 visitors, making a total of 7 adults and 8 children aged
between 2 and 17.

1911 Census - 13a Egerton Street, Sale.  Son - aged: 17 - occ: General
Labourer - Unemployed - born: Sale.   Head of household - Thomas King -
Married - aged: 65 - occ: General Labourer - Unemployed - born: Queen's
County, Ireland.   Also Maria King - Wife - aged: 55 - born: Queen's
County, Ireland.   Plus 4 siblings and 1 boarder.   [This was only half the
house the other half of this 4 roomed house was occupied by a widower and
his 3 daughters and 2 sons]

Serving as a Reservist at the outbreak of war he was called up at the start
in August 1914.

MIC - Drafted to France on the 7th October 1914.    Awarded the 14 Star,
the BWM & the VM.

SDGW states that he died on 03/05/18 - as does the local newspaper.

The 25/05/1915 & 28/05/1915 editions of the local newspaper reports that he
has been awarded the DCM

The 07/04/1916 edition of the local newspaper reports that he was one of a
number of Sale brothers ill in a London hospital.

His brothers were also in the British Army during WW1 - Gunners James and
Thomas King serving in the RFA, Private John King in the Cheshire Rgt and
Private Joseph King attached to the Cheshire Rgt.
