Born during the March quarter 1917 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/895, the son of John H. & Esther A. Wadsworth (nee Adams).

Married Ann Armstrong during the March quarter 1941 in the Crosby R.D. -
ref: 8b/1261.

The 4th Bn, Grenadier Guards formed part of the 6th Guards Tank Brigade. 
The Division remained in the UK training until the 13th June 1944, when it
landed several armoured command vehicles at Arromanches.  Its first major
engagement was in Operation Goodwood when they were part of three armoured
divisions that attacked towards Bourguebus Ridge in an attempt to break out
of the Normandy beachhead.   They were also involved in Operation Bluecoat
advancing east of Caen as the Falaise pocket was forming.  Operation
Bluecoat took place between mid-July and the 6th August 1944.
