Joined the RAFVR in February 1943 and later promoted to the rank of
Sergeant.    KinA whilst on air operations in July 1944.

207 Sqn lost five aircraft that night (3 - Lancaster Mk1's and 2 -
Lancaster MkIII's), but Sgt Butterworth is not mentioned as being on one of
these Bomber Command losses.
