At the time of the 1911 Census, his parents were residing at 342 Regent Road, Salford. Head of household - William Hadley Jones - Married - aged: 29 - occ: Baker (employer at home) - born: Salford. Also - Elizabeth Jones - Wife - aged: 27 - born: Salford. Plus their 6 month old daughter. Alan was born during the September quarter 1923 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/884, the son of William Hadley & Elizabeth Jones (nee Mytton). Accidentally killed in Italy. Stretford Grammar School Memorial and the CWGC list him as being in the R.E.M.E. whereas the Stretford Book lists him as being in the Royal Tank Rgt. Commemorated on the family grave in Weaste Cemetery, Salford which states that he was in the REME. Weaste Cemetery MI - "His duty nobly done". |
