The Stentor was built in 1926, its gross register tonnage was 6,148, it was
449 feet long, 55 feet wide and could make 14.5 knots.   A cargo passenger
liner, it was one of 24 ships operated by the China Mutual Steam Navigation
Co. Ltd.  It could accommodate 12 passengers.

Near to the Canary Islands, travelling from West Africa to the U.K., on the
27/10/42 she was torpedoed by U-509, whilst in convoy SL125 and sank in
position - 29.13N 20.53W.   There were 202 survivors, but 44
crew/passengers were lost.  It was a general cargo vessel, so presumably
was being used as a troopship at the time it was sunk.
