The "Josefina Thordén" was built in 1931, it's gross register tonnage was
6549, it was 422 feet long, 55 feet wide and could make 11.5 knots.   A
tanker, it was one of 16 ships operated by Gustaf B. Thordén, Brandön
Huvilakaupunki, Kulosaari, Finland.   In 1941 she became a British Ministry
of War Transport ship

Travelling from Curacao to Shellhaven, on the 06/04/43 she struck a mine in
position - 232º  4½ miles from Sunk Head Buoy in the Thames estuary and
beached, breaking into two.The forepart was salvaged and the remainder was
taken out and sunk in position 51.47.18N 10.29.42E. There were 40
survivors, but 15 crew were lost.
