8c/729, the son of Edward H. & Winifred Spencer (nee Hodkinson).

42 - occ: Cotton Salesman - born: Chester.    Also - Winifred Spencer -
Wife - aged: 42 - born: Bolton, Lancashire.   Plus 2 elder brothers.

Married Marion Hargreaves during the June quarter 1931 in the Manchester
South R.D. - ref: 8d/261.

1939 National Registration - 27 Woodstock Road, Firswood, Stretford.  
Stanley Spencer - Married - born: 12th April 1903 - occ: Meat Salesman -
Wholesale.  There is an overwritten note stating that he was "Manager
National Food Dept. Deputy Pork Meat Agent".  Marion Spencer - Married -
born: 6th December 1903 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.  Jean M. Spencer -
Single - born: 21st September 1932 - occ: At School.

CWD Report No. 54.  Died as a result of blast at 27 Woodstock Road,
Firswood, Stretford, from where his body was recovered at 07.15 hrs on the
23rd December 1940 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford.   
His body was identified by his brother-in-law - Edward Hargreaves, Downing
Street, Manchester and released for burial to the Manchester & Salford
Co-op Funeral Department.

His wife and daughter were also killed in this incident.

Employed as a Meat Inspectors Manager.

Buried 27/12/1940 - Burial No. 17,865.

Five people died in this incident.  Stanley Spencer, his wife - Marion
Spencer and their daughter - Jean Marion Spencer at No. 27 together with
two of their neighbours - Edwin & Emily Wood at No. 29.  The two families
were each in their respective Anderson Shelters at the time.
