the daughter of George & Ethel Pattie Ridd (nee Gent).

household - George Ridd - Married - aged: 36 - occ: Journeyman Tailor -
born: Llansamlet, Glamorganshire.     Also - Ethel Ridd - Wife - aged: 36 -
born: Paddington, London.    Plus 3 elder sisters.

1939 National Registration - 133 Clifton Street, Stretford.   George Ridd -
Widowed - born on the 1st June 1874 - occ: Tailor (Retired).   Kathleen G.
Ridd - Single - born on the 23rd June 1910 - occ: Secretary (General
Merchant).  Ellen E. Elwell - Single - born on the 7th May 1909 - occ:
Housekeeper.   George Heaps - Married - born on the 30th July 1912 - occ;
Carpenter (Builder).

CWD Report No. 27.   Died as a result of blast & falling debris at 133
Clifton Street, Old Trafford, from where her body was recovered at 12.15
hrs on the 1st January 1941 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old
Trafford.     Her body was identified by her brother-in-law - Thomas
Harthill, 19 Rosslyn Road, Firswood, husband of her sister - Lora (Lorna)
and released for burial to the Council's Undertaker Contractor - R.
Pepperdine, 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford.   Described as being 5 feet 3
inches in height and of Slight build.  Employed as a Secretary/Cashire.

Buried 06/01/1941 - Burial No. 17,920.   Her father - George Ridd was also
killed in this incident.

Killed due to the explosion of a Land Mine.

Story related in 2004 by Julie Wickham - We were lucky because a parachute
mine had landed at the end of Clifton Street and several houses had
collapsed into the cellars, including our previous house, 61. It was never
rebuilt and the site is now part of the playing field for a new school,
built after the war. 

CWGC - of 133 Clifton Street, Old Trafford. Daughter of George and of the
late Ethel Pattie Ridd. Died at 133 Clifton Street.
