The Scottish Maiden was built in 1921, it's gross register tonnage was
6,993, it was 441 feet long, 57 feet wide and could make 10 knots.  A
tanker, it was one of 7 ships operated by the Tankers Ltd, 37-41
Gracechurch St, London EC3.

Off Northern Ireland, travelling from Curacao to Avonmouth, on the 05/11/40
she was torpedoed by U-99, whilst in convoy HX83 and sank in position -
54.36N 14.23W.   There were 28 survivors, but 16 crew/passengers were
lost.

John's Brother - Joseph Luke Farrell, a cook on the M.V. Silvercedar
(London) was also killed 11 months later.
