Not a Trafford Man.   Born during the September quarter 1897 in the
Axbridge R.D. - ref: 5c/455, the son of Thomas & Eliza Popham (nee
Parsons).

A Patient at Stamford Red Cross Hospital(Dunham Massey Hall), suffering
from severe shrapnel wounds.

See - "THE STAMFORD HOSPITAL by David Eastwood".   Wounded in 1917, he was
a patient at the Stmaford Hospital and was one of eleven men who signed a
thank you letter to Lord Stamford in July 1917.  "Sir,  We, the undersigned
wounded soldiers convalescing at your beautiful home, desire to thank you
for the kind thoughts you have entertained in regard to our welfare. Also
to thank you for your splendid gift of croquet balls. None of us could have
chosen anything that could give greater satisfaction. Wishing you the best
of good fortune, and hoping, in the near future to thank you in person,  
We remain,  Your comrades in arms

After his recovery, he returned to the Western Front, only to be killed in
January 1918.
