Born during the September quarter 1898 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref:
8a/171, the son of Frank & Mary Murphy (nee Williams).

1901 Census - No Trace.

1911 Census - Yew Tree Cottage, Spout Lane, Mobberley.   Son - aged: 12 -
Scholar - born: Mobberley.  Head of household - Frank Murphy - Married -
aged: 48 - occ: Gardener - born: Knutsford.   Also - Mary Murphy - Wife -
aged: 45 - born: Walsall, Staffordshire.   Plus 4 siblings, all born at
Mobberley.

Enlisted when he was aged just 17 years and was sent back (back from the
front ???).    Enlisted again at age 18 years.

The 04/08/1916 edition of the local newspaper reports that he had now been
at the front 4-5 months and had been wounded at the Battle of the Somme.

Death reported in the 09/08/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
