Born during the September quarter 1893 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref:
8a/186, the son of John & Mary Ann Hollingworth (nee Dalton).    [Surname
spelt Hollingsworth].    Baptised at St. Margaret's Church on the 12th
September 1893.  According to the 1891 Census returns for No. 8 Royle
Street, Altrincham, his father - John Hollingworth (no 's'), was aged: 29
and employed as a Cab Driver and his mother was aged: 23.

His father died in 1897, aged: 53.

1901 Census - 10 Chapel Yard, Chapel Street, Altrincham - son - aged: 7 -
born: Altrincham.   Head of household - Mary Hollingworth (no 's') - Single
- aged: 32 - occ: Washerwoman - born: Altrincham.  Plus 2 siblings, his
maternal grandmother and 1 female Lodger.

By 1904 the family were living at No. 6 Chapel Street.

1911 Census - 6 Chapel Street.   Son -  aged: 18 - occ: General Labourer -
born: Altrincham.   Head of household Mary Ann Hollingworth (no 's') -
Single - occ: Charwoman - born: Altrincham.  Plus 2 siblings a maternal
uncle, 2 Boarders and 2 "Oxley" cousins.

Spelt "Hollingworth" on both census returns.  Spelt with an 's' on the CWGC
records.

A professional soldier, serving in India pre-War, he was the first Chapel
Street man to be killed during WW1.

CWGC - Son of Mrs. A. Hollingsworth (with an 's'), of 6 Chapel Street,
Altrincham.
