Born during the December quarter 1892 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/180,
the son of James & Mary Jane Leech (nee Venables).  His mother born in
1860, died in late 1900.

1901 Census - Cottage, Bloomsbury Lane, Timperley.    Son - aged: 8 - born:
Timperley.   Head of household - James Leech - Widow - aged: 43 - occ:
Coachman & Gardner - born: Wellington, Shropshire.   Plus 4 siblings and 1
paternal aunt.

1911 Census - 74 Byrom Street, Altrincham.   Son - aged: 18 - occ: Gardener
(Domestic) - born: Timperley.  Head of household - James Leech - Widower -
aged: 56 - occ: Van Driver - born: Wellington, Shropshire.  Plus 1 younger
brother.

Employed as a Gardener by Mr. George Rhodes KC, Allandale, Bowdon.

Married Hellen Green during the September quarter 1914 in the Haslingden
R.D, - ref: 8e/176.

Enlisted soon after the outbreak of war.

Listed only as John on the Cenotaph and J.F. Leech by the CWGC.

Death reported in the 15/11/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Christ Church Churchyard.

M.I. - "Worthy of everlasting remembrance". (Christ Church).     No M.I. on
the CWGC headstone at Sailly Saillisel Cem, Somme, France.

Pension Record - Dependent - Ellen Leech, 421 Blackburn Road, Accrington,
Lancashire.  Awarded a grant of £6 allowance on the 28th October 1918 and
a weekly pension of 20/5d w.e.f. the 31st March 1919.   Ellen is later
listed as Ellen Clegg, residing at 12 Mill Street, Accrington, Lancashire. 
 The pension was for herself and their daughter - Rose Ellen Leech born on
the 6th July 1916.
