Born during the December quarter 1894 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/160,
the youngest child of William & Hannah Jane Dean (nee Royle).

His family were residng at Priory Street (No.22 in 1911) at the time of the
1891 census and this is probably where James was born.   His father was
then a 40 year old Bowdon born Bricklayer.

His father died in 1896, aged: 46.

1901 Census -  Priory Street, Bowdon.    Son - aged: 6 - born: Bowdon.   
Head of household - Annie Dean - Widow - aged: 46 - occ: Laundress - born:
Dunham Massey.     Plus 6 elder siblings, a maternal uncle and a cousin.

1911 Census - 22 Priory Street Bowdon.    Son - aged: 16 - occ: Gardener
Domestic - born: Bowdon.    Head of household - Hannah Jane Dean - Widow -
aged: 58 - occ: Laundress - born: Dunham.     Plus 5 elder siblings.

Took part in the attack on Bellewaarde Farm, near Ypres on the 25th May
1915.  The Battalion suffered 295 casaulties that day, one of whom was
James who died of his wounds three days later.
