Enlisted on his 19th birthday in October 1916

On the 12th May, he was acting as a runner, engaged in guiding a party out
of the line to draw rations, when he was wounded by a shell sustaining very
serious wounds.

Died of wounds at Rouen hospital.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Mary's, Bowdon.  
Grave No. 1576.

His father, James (Contractor ?) died 23/05/1941 aged 84 years and his
mother, Drusilla died 22/12/1948 aged 90 years.
