James & Caroline Selina Sweeney (nee Royle).

Married Thelma Gilmore in the Barton-on-Irwell Register Office during the
June quarter 1937 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1416.

At 07.25 hrs, the 1st Battalion, South Lancashire Rgt were one of the two
leading assault battalions of the 3rd Division that landed on Queen White
Beach (Sword Beach) on the 6th June.  They lost their C.O. and over 100 men
- one of whom was James.
