Born in India in 1881, the son of William & Emily Duross.

It would seem that his father - William was probably serving in the British
Army in Ireland, c1876 when he married Emily there.  Their eldest daughter
was born at Portsmouth in 1878.   He was then posted to India where their
other 3 children were born - 1879, 1881 & 1888.   He returned to the UK
c1890 and in 1891 was listed as a Private in the 8th Hussars at Thorpe,
Norwich.   At the time of the 1901 Census, he was aged: 52 and employed as
a Barrack Labourer at the Fulwood Barracks, Preston, Lancashire.    His
wife - Emily, aged: 46 was also listed there with him, together with their
13 year old daughter who was born at Bengal, India.    There is no trace of
their two sons.

1881 Census - No Trace - family in India.

1891 Census - 8th King's Royal Hussars, Thorpe, Norwich, Norfolk.   Son -
aged: 10 - born: India.   Head of household - Private William Duross -
Married - aged: 42 - born: St. Augustines, Manchester.   Also Emily - Wife
- aged: 32 - born: Ireland.    Plus his elder sister - Elizabeth - aged: 13
- born: Portsmouth, Hampshire.  His elder brother - Henry - aged: 12 -
born: India (also killed on active service) and his younger sister - Lily -
aged: 3 - born: India. 

1901 Census - No Trace. (see the family time-line above)

1911 Census - 37 Gorse Street, Stretford.     Son - UnMarried - aged: 30 -
occ: Assembler of Controllers - born: Rawalpindi, India.    Head of
household - William Duross - Married - aged: 62 - occ: Assembler for
Controllers - born: Manchester.    Also Emily Duross - Wife - aged: 58 -
born: Athlone, Ireland.   Plus his elder brother - Henry, who was also
killed on Active Service.

Formerly 6270 12th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers.

He died at the Lord Derby War Hospital, Winwick, Warrington.  Buried
27/06/1917 - Burial No. 8,036.
