Born during the September quarter 1916 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/315,
the elder son of Thomas & Alice Hampson (nee Wright).

Attended St. Mary's School, Sale and Altrincham Grammar School.   He was a
keen cyclist, a member of Ashton on Mersey R.U.F.C., and a King's Scout.

A member of the Auxillary Air Force before the war, joining the RAF when
war broke out.   He went missing whilst on convoy protection duties

Flying with 220 Sqn they took off at 09.00 hours in a Hudson Mk2 - number
T9366 NR-R from RAF Wick (2/7), situated on the far north-east tip of
Scotland for a Stab Patrol.    The a/c was shot down off Bergen, Norway, by
Obit. Brandis of Zerst/JG 77.    The entire crew of four were lost and are
all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.    The crew members were:-
Flying Officer J.L. Halstead (pilot);  Sgt J. Monet;  Sgt R. Fawcett and
Pilot Officer T.E. Hampson himself. 

Listed as T. Hampson on both St, Mary's and Altrincham Grammar School
Memorials.
