The "San Florentino" was built in 1919, it's gross register tonnage was
12,842, it was 557 feet long, 69 feet wide and could make 10 knots.
A tanker, it was one of 29 ships operated by the Eagle Oil & Shipping Co.

In mid-Atlantic, SE of Cape Farewell, travelling from Glasgow to Curacao in
ballast,  a straggler with Convoy ONS19, comprising 49 ships, she was at
first torpedoed and damaged by gunfire from U-94 on the 01/10/4 in position
52.50N  34.40W.  She was again torpedoed by U-94, and sank in position -
52.42N 34.51W.   There were 34 survivors, who were rescued by R.C.N.
Corvette "Mayflower"and landed at St. John's, Newfoundland, but 22
crew/passengers were lost.  

Another source states that she was shelled by the USCG cutter "Campbell"
and sunk.  That perhaps refers to parts of the wreck being scuttled by
gunfire by HMCS Alberni (K 103).
