Born during the March quarter 1894 in the Wem R.D. - ref: 6a/709, the son
of Thomas & Johannah Hand (nee Huxley).

His father - Thomas Hand was a Brick Maker, born in 1855 - he died in the
early summer of 1900 - aged: 45.

1901 Census - Mucklestone, Market Drayton, Shropshire.   Son - aged: 7 -
born: Prees, Shropshire.   Head of household - Hannah Hand (Johannah Hand
actually) - Widow - aged: 40 - occ: General Servant (not domestic) - born:
Shropshire.   Plus 4 siblings  including his younger brother - Joseph who
was also killed during WW1.

1911 Census - 73 Salisbury Road, Market Drayton, Shropshire.   Son - aged:
18 - occ: General Labourer - born: Aychbey, Nr Crees, Shropshire.   Head of
household - Johannah Hand - Widow - aged: 47 - occ: Charwoman (domestic) -
born: Ightfield, Nr Whitchurch, Shropshire.   Plus 4 siblings, including
his younger brother - Joseph who was also killed during WW1.

Richard married Eliza Jane Wragg during the March quarter 1915 in the
Woolstanton R.D. - ref: 6b/124.  Post War Eliza resided at 8 Sandford
Street, Chesterton, Staffordshire.

The 6th Bn, North Staffordshire Rgt landed at Le Havre on the 4th March
1915 and became part of the 137th Brigade, 46th ((North Midland) Division.

His mother - Johannah, having lost both her two sons in WW1, died in
Manchester in 1949, aged: 90.
