Born during the December quarter 1883 in the Barton upon I+Irwell R.D. -
ref: 8c/623, the only son of Henry Louis & Annie Chevalier.  Birth recorded
as spelt with 2 'LLs' - Chevallier).  The 1881 census for Atherton Cottage,
Flash Lane, Flixton, also shows the spelling as Chevallier as well.   This
is probably where Victor was born?

1891 Census - Atherton Cottage, Flash Lane, Flixton.   Grandson (listed as
Victor L. Chevalier) - aged: 8 - Scholar - born: Lancashire.   Head of
household - Victor E.A. Chevalier - Widower - aged: 74 - occ: Professor of
French Language - born: France.  Also - Annie Chevalier - Daughter in law -
Married - aged: 34 - born: Lancashire.  Plus 2 elder sisters.

His father - Henry Louis died in late 1893, aged: 48

1901 Census - 29 Gloucester Road, Urmston.   Son (listed as Victor L.
Chevalier) - aged: 15 - occ: Draughtsman - born: Flixton.  Head of
household - Annie Chevalier - Widow - aged: 45 - born: Manchester.   Plus 2
sisters, a brother in law and a nephew.

1911 Census - 162 Duke Street, Southport, Lancashire.    Brother (listed as
Victor Louis Chevalier) - aged: 28 - occ: Draughtsman - born: Flixton. 
Head of household - Adeline Watson - Married - aged: 32 - born: Flixton.  
Also - Annie Chevalier - Mother - Widow - aged: 55 - born: Lancashire.  
Plus his niece and 1 domestic servant.

WO363 - Enlisted at Preston on the 7th September 1914.  He was then aged 31
yrs 10 months and was employed as a draughtsman.  He was 5 feet 3 1/2
inches in height and weighed 140 lb.  He had a Fresh complexion, Blue eyes
and Brown hair, his religion recorded as Church of England.    Posted to
France on the 17th July 1915 and appointed as an unpaid Lance Corporal on
the 3rd September 1915.    His next of kin was given as Mrs. Ann Chevalier
162 Duke Street, Southport.  His service qualification was - Machine Gunner
1st Class.

He is commemorated on the Southport Town War Memoral.
